Good Grief, a book club: AUGUST
Good Grief is a book club for readers who love finding themselves in the pages. Book selections will span genres, topics, and tones (lighthearted and laughing to heartfelt and teary!). Monthly discussions will have a relaxed structure focused on personal reflection and the connection we feel to stories of life, from love to loss.

All ages, allies, and families welcome!
Join a coalition of Syracuse-based grassroots queer groups and organizers to celebrate summer, community, and nature! We’re gathering on the shores of Green Lakes State Park for a relaxed day of chilling, grilling, swimming, resting, and appreciating Mother Nature’s rare and very special Two Spirit (meromictic) lakes.
🏖️ We’ll be gathering on the shady grass and sunny sand just past the big, main bathhouse and concrete lifeguard platform. Look for the flags! Please BYOE (chairs, blankets, towels, water, food, sunscreen, bug spray, hat, shade tent or umbrella, etc).
🎟️ Admission to Green Lakes is $10 per vehicle, or use the Empire Pass (inquire with your local libraries about borrowing one!). There are gendered, all gender, and ADA bathroom facilities. Paths from parking lots to meet up area are paved and mostly flat. Park picnic tables and charcoal grills available. Water fountains on site. Coolers allowed. No pets allowed on the beach. Compassionate Co-working
Join Nicole from Front Porch Collective for a couple hours of co-working and body doubling in a compassionate environment. Compassionate Co-working takes place over Zoom.

What is co-working? A gathering of individuals working on independent projects coming together to work alongside one another.
What is body doubling? A productivity strategy used often by individuals with ADHD to finish tasks while having another person beside them. This person is the body double. The body double helps by reducing potential distractions and increasing motivation.
Why is this named Compassionate Co-working? Many co-working environment are hyper-focused on completionist productivity, “the grind,” and/or are tailored to individuals working corporate jobs. Our co-working environment offers a compassionate and comfortable space for artists, creatives, corporate employees, stay-at-home moms, and everyone in between.
THIS PERIOD IS FOR ANYONE WORKING ON ANY PROJECT. There will be no screen sharing and low lo-fi music will be playing. Join us and tackle work projects, pay your bills, finish a craft, fold laundry, or anything else you may need to complete!

Accessibility Information:
Salt City Market is on Syracuse bus lines SY 52 and SY 16 with minimal walking from stop to building entrance.
Salt City Market’s entrances, the entrance to Queer All Year Market, and the restrooms in the facility are all on one level and have doorways wide enough for folx who use mobility aids. Doors also have accessible touch-free open/close devices.
All gender restrooms available in event space with wheel under sinks. Doors are a bit heavy but volunteers or coordinators can help open/close doors for attendees if needed.
Face masks will be available for free to market attendees at the entrance. See information above about our Safer Shopping Hours block for mask-required shopping hours.
In order to stay true to our values of inclusivity for ALL bodies, vendors have been asked to not have displays that discriminate against fat or disabled bodies.

Queer Grief Support Group, "Grieving Gays"
Join Front Porch Collective for Grieving Gays, a queer grief support group in collaboration with Queer Quarterly CNY (@queerquarterlyCNY on Instagram).
Queer grief is complex and often misunderstood. From safety in public to lost connections with family members, LGBTQIA+ folx experience loss in many ways and often aren’t provided the space to be held in their grief.
This drop-in, free support group will be offered every other month in-person in Syracuse, NY. There will never be a cost associated with attending this group.

Grief Release: Yoga w/ Tamara Abuleil
Join Front Porch Collective in collaboration with Tamara Abuleil of Yogi by Nature for a yoga workshop and enjoy time in community with supportive conversation for grievers and non-grievers alike.
Attendees will participate in a guided yoga practice for all bodies led by Tamara Abuleil of Yogi by Nature and engage in meaningful conversation and reflection with Nicole from Front Porch Collective. No previous experience necessary!
Through restorative yoga, we create a gentle space for the body and heart to slow down and be supported. Using props and comfortable postures held in stillness, the practice invites the nervous system to soften and the body to release layers of tension it may be carrying. This quiet, nurturing practice encourages deep rest, mindful breathing, and a compassionate awareness of whatever may arise within. In this space, you are simply invited to pause, be present, and allow the body to settle into moments of ease and gentle restoration.

Join Front Porch Collective in collaboration with Jae Friedman, LMT of JF Bodywork for a self massage workshop and enjoy time in community with supportive conversation for grievers and non-grievers alike.
Attendees will participate in a guided self massage workshop led by Jae Friedman, LMT of JF Bodywork and engage in meaningful conversation and reflection with Nicole from Front Porch Collective.
Jae will explain some common tension patterns and strategies for how to check-in with your body. Come relax and learn self-myofascial massage practices to bring more ease and comfort to our stressed-out and grieving bodies.

Queer Grief Support Group, "Grieving Gays"
Join Front Porch Collective for Grieving Gays, a queer grief support group in collaboration with Queer Quarterly CNY (@queerquarterlyCNY on Instagram).
Queer grief is complex and often misunderstood. From safety in public to lost connections with family members, LGBTQIA+ folx experience loss in many ways and often aren’t provided the space to be held in their grief.
This drop-in, free support group will be offered every other month in-person in Syracuse, NY. There will never be a cost associated with attending this group.
